About Us

Women’s Health Grampians (WHG) is one of nine regional and two state wide women’s services in Victoria. WHG is funded under the Victorian’s Women’s Health Program. WHG operates from offices in Ballarat and Horsham. WHG is funded to provide health promotion activities within a social model of health, using a gendered lens, through the Grampians region. The focus is on reaching women who are most disadvantaged.

The region covers 48,112 square kilometres and comprises eleven Local Government Areas (LGA) including Hindmarsh, Horsham, West Wimmera, Yarriambiack, Ararat, Northern Grampians, Pyrenees, Ballarat, Golden Plains, Hepburn and Moorabool. The region is further divided into three sub regions – Central Highlands, Central Grampians and Wimmera. The region is compounded by the fact that all but one LGA borders on another Department of Human Services region. The estimated population in 2006 was 211,638 of which 108,420 (51.22%) were women (Australian Bureau of Statistics 2006 census).

We provide women with information, support and access to services and health practitioners, to assist them in making informed decisions about their health. This service is confidential.

Members of the public can drop in at any time during business hours and browse in our library, chat to staff about health issues or other issues affecting women and remember, you don't have to have a health issue to contact us. We have hundreds of books on topics including enhancing your health, relationships and sense of well-being. Our friendly staff will make you feel welcome.
